BirdingCentral User Manual - Privacy
Your privacy is important to Birding Central, and many of the features of the software were designed with your privacy in mind.
Birding Central does not collect or store any personal information. We need an email address only to contact you about your account. Your email will never be shared.
There may be times when when you do not want others to see details about your bird sightings. For example, you may not want others to see locations at or around your home. Birding central allows you to set a privacy level for every sighting you enter, so you control who can see your sightings.
You can set these privacy levels:
- Everyone - This setting allows everyone to see the details of the sighting, including the date, location (map), and species list.
- Just your friends - This setting only allows other registered users whom you have selected as friends to see the sighting. Note that users who have selected you as a friend can't see the sighting. Also, if you remove a user from your friend's list, they will no longer be able to see these sightings.
- Just You - No one but you will be able to view the details of these sightings
The species from all sightings are included in your life list and species counts. However, only users with appropriate permissions will be able to see the details of the actual sightings.
